Dear Parents

This pleasant morning finds me trying to write a few lines for your perusual. I have not written in most two weeks and it has been most three weeks since I rec'd your last letter. I should have written before but have been waiting for a letter from home. I presume you have before but your letters may have been delayed on the rout.

Col. Hills starts for home this morning and I will send $120 by him. I intended to have sent $150 but I have need of $30 more than I intended but I will try and make it up next pay day if not sooner. This letter will probably be mailed at the Boro. The money you will find at Col. Hill's when you call for it. I might have sent it by mail but I did not like to trust it.

We are all well and I hope this will find you enjoying the same great blessing. You must excuse me this time for writing so short a letter. We have to go out on inspection this morning and we have to clean up and pack our things. We are sorry to lose the Col. We are losing all of our old officers. they are going home as fast as their old term expires but that will give other aspirants a chance but I must close hoping to hear from you. You will find the money at Col. Hill's as soon as you get this letter. Please write often as convenient to your ever Affectionate Son.
